“Not only have I learned life skills from inspiring and caring mentors, I have made life long friendships and karate has felt like my second home.
“These last 7 years have been an amazing journey of commitment, dedication and growth, which I am eager to grow even more with the experience of attending my first Soke Cup.”

2023 Soke cup in review
1. What was your favourite thing(s) about the whole Soke Cup experience?
- Opening ceremony - drums and all the dojos walking on.
- Meeting people from all over the world
2. What did you learn from the experience?
- Kumite - when I wasn't patient, it wasn't my best
- Team Kumite - having patience changed my performance
3. If you were to do it all again, what would you do differently?
Not stress out so much.
Leading up to the event I was really nervous. Idea of lots of different countries to compete against.
4. What would you say to those who might have their eye on the next Soke Cup?
Go for it. It's a good experience and the training itself helps you to grow.
