“I have grown up with karate all my life and it has really shaped me into the person that I am today.
It has really helped me grow my confidence and leadership skills both inside and outside the dojo.
I competed in my first Soke Cup in Japan in 2017 and then again in Canada in 2019, so I’m grateful to once again be a part of this amazing team as we move through the final stages in preparation before the tournament.”

2023 Soke cup in review
1. What was your favourite thing(s) about the whole Soke Cup experience?
The whole team atmosphere, the noise, everyone coming together.
2. What did you learn from the experience?
The process for training. Previously (last 2 Soke Cups), just doing it and going through the motions for fun. This time I was still doing it for fun but with an awareness of myself and my goals.
3. If you were to do it all again, what would you do differently?
Document the process more. Regular filming of personal performances outside of tournaments.
4. What would you say to those who might have their eye on the next Soke Cup?
If someone chose to do it, enjoy the process. We can get stuck in our heads (tunnel vision). Enjoy the process.
